Psychological assessmentin English

Dr Monica Bolocan carries out psychological assessments in English, including cognitive and IQ testing, social-emotional assessment, investigation of underachievement, and assessment of giftedness and high learning potential.

Assessments draw on internationally recognised standardised instruments, including the WISC‑V, WAIS‑IV, WIAT‑III, WRAT5, NEPSY‑II, BASC‑3, Conners 4 and Brown EF/A Scales.

Clinical, neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments are available to English-speaking children enrolled in English-taught schools following the British curriculum in Bucharest, Romania.

01 – Learning & school

Psychoeducational evaluation

If your child is struggling with reading, writing, maths or concentration at an English-medium school, a psychoeducational assessment shows why, and what will help. It is carried out in English with internationally recognised standardised instruments, and covers cognitive abilities, academic attainment and the underlying skills that support learning.

The outcome is a detailed diagnostic report that:

01identifies the pupil's specific learning profile, including strengths and areas of need;
02sets out clear, practical recommendations for classroom teaching and for an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or SEN Support Plan;
03provides the evidence and format required by school SEN teams, examination officers and awarding bodies when applying for access arrangements and reasonable adjustments in internal and external examinations (IB, Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, AQA and others), in line with current JCQ and SASC guidance;
04serves as a baseline for monitoring progress and for onward referral where further specialist input is indicated.

02 – Development & wellbeing

Clinical & neuropsychological evaluation

When a child's difficulties go beyond schoolwork (persistent worry, low mood, problems with attention, behaviour or friendships), a clinical and neuropsychological assessment helps make sense of what is really happening.

We assess language, visual-perceptual abilities, information processing, attention and executive functioning, learning and memory, sensory processing and psycho-emotional functioning, using standardised instruments alongside developmental history, questionnaires and observation.

The assessment identifies which symptoms are present, how significant they are and what is driving them, and supports diagnosis and treatment planning for mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD and autism.

You receive a clear report explaining your child's profile, with recommendations for therapy, school support and next steps, including onward referral where medical or multidisciplinary input is needed.

The choice of the tests used in the evaluation depends on the referral question.

All English-language assessments – test administration, clinical observation, scoring, and the integration and interpretation of results – are carried out in full by Dr Monica Bolocan.
The instruments used are the most recent editions of well-established psychometric tools in clinical, neuropsychological and educational psychology.
Results are interpreted against UK or US normative data, as appropriate to the instrument.
The report provides standard scores, percentile ranks and qualitative descriptions for each subtest administered.
