Requesting psychological services for a minor.

Who may make the request

A request for psychological services for a minor may be made by the child’s parent or legal representative. Where the parents are separated or divorced, the consent of both parents is required, except where a court order provides otherwise.

Rights, obligations and limits

The parent has the right to be informed about the purpose of the assessment, the instruments used and the results obtained, and the obligation to provide accurate and complete information about the child’s developmental and medical history.

The assessment report may be used for diagnostic, psychological or educational counselling purposes, but NOT for judicial purposes (for example, to establish custody of the child, or for trauma assessment). No trauma assessment or forensic assessment services are offered.

Confidentiality of the psychological act

All information obtained during the assessment is confidential and is protected under the Code of Ethics of the profession of psychologist and personal data protection legislation. Data may be disclosed to third parties (school, treating physician) only with the written consent of the parent or legal representative.

Use of artificial intelligence

The psychological assessment, the interpretation of results, the conclusions and the recommendations are carried out exclusively by the psychologist. Artificial intelligence tools may be used as auxiliary support for research, organising information and drafting, under human verification and responsibility. No identifiable personal data of service users is entered into these tools, and no decision concerning the person assessed is taken by exclusively automated processing.
